From unused space to dream wardrobe

When Karin Boo Wiklander redesigned her bedroom, she wanted to create more than just a place to rest. By building a cat loft and rethinking room storage, a previously hard-to-use space has become part of a well-thought-out and personal bedroom solution.

Behind the sliding door model Grace is now clothes storage with Elfa’s freestanding system. The sand beige colour choice gives the wardrobe a soft look that harmonises with the rest of the bedroom.

A built-in radiator cover can be a nice detail.

With a cat loft, unused square metres can be converted into good storage.

I love the cosy feeling. The sandy beige colour gives the bedroom exactly the soft and warm tone I wanted.

A bedroom where every space has a purpose

Karin’s bedroom transformation shows how a space that may feel difficult to use at first can become an asset. Instead of letting the sloping ceiling limit the room, space was created for the clothes where the space already existed.

The result is a bedroom where storage can take up space without taking over. A solution adapted to your home, your style and your everyday life.

Karin’s tips for creating smart clothes storage under sloping ceilings

See the possibilities in the difficult surfaces. Sloped ceilings and angles do not have to be a lost surface. Consider what function the location could have.
Start from what is to be stored. Inventory clothes, shoes and accessories before planning. This makes it easier to choose the right combination of hangers, shelves and trays.
Think about the whole room. Storage is part of the interior design. Materials and colours can help create a cohesive expression.
Choose a flexible solution. Storage needs change. With a customisable system, your wardrobe can keep up with your everyday life.
Stay at height. Plan the entire space, not just the floor space. This can make room for much more storage.
