Turning a garage dream into a dream garage

For Mohammed, motorcycles have long been a passion. But there was no obvious place at home for either the bike or the tools needed to work on it. So, when it was time to build his own garage, the goal was clear: an organised and functional space where everything has its place and his hobby has room to grow.

When the hobby takes over the house

For Mohammed, motorcycles are more than a means of transport. He enjoys working on them just as much as riding them, customising each bike and putting his own stamp on it. The only challenge was finding the space.

“I had nowhere to park the bike or work on it.”

And when a hobby starts demanding more room, it inevitably finds its way into the rest of the house.

“My wife was tired of me taking over the guest room. And, naturally, the living room too.”

The solution was a dedicated garage. A place where Mohammed could park, tinker, and spend time with his bikes, without motorcycle parts and tools competing for space with everyday life.

Plan for what you actually want to do

Mohammed had a clear vision of how he wanted the finished garage to feel. But above all, he knew how he wanted to use it.

“When I started planning the garage, I could immediately picture myself sitting on my stool, rolling between my motorcycles and tinkering with them.”

This also became the starting point for planning the storage. In a garage, it's easy to start with the question, "How much can I fit in?" But it's just as important to consider how the space will be used. Where should the workbench go? Which tools need to be close at hand? What can be stored on the walls to free up floor space?

For Mohammed, it was all about creating a clear overview while leaving as much open space as possible for his motorcycles and the work that comes with them.

Everything in its place

When the garage was finished, it was time to install Garage+.

The storage solution was designed to make the most of the wall space while providing dedicated places for tools and equipment. The top track was customised to fit the wall, allowing the storage system to extend from wall to wall.

With Garage+, different functions can be combined to suit specific needs, including shelves, drawers, cabinets, storage boards and work surfaces. For Mohammed, this means keeping tools close to where he works, while giving other equipment a designated place of its own.

The result is more than just additional storage. It creates better organisation, a clearer overview and more usable space for the hobby itself.

Organised and functional

Mohammed’s vision for the garage was actually quite simple: clean, organised and clutter-free. But the end result exceeded even his expectations.

Today, the motorcycles have a dedicated space of their own. The tools are neatly organised. The workspace is exactly where it needs to be. And instead of searching for room to work on his bikes, Mohammed can use the garage exactly as he imagined.

More space for what he loves.

Mohammed’s tips for creating a functional garage

  1. Start with what you'll actually use the garage for. Don't just plan for what needs to be stored. Think about what you actually want to do in the garage. This will help you prioritise workspace, open floor space and storage, creating a garage that works for both your hobby and your equipment.
  2. Plan ahead. Think about storage from the very beginning when planning your garage. The size of the walls, the placement of the garage door and how you intend to use the space will all influence the storage options available later on.
  3. Make the most of your walls.. By moving storage off the floor and onto the walls, you free up valuable floor space for your motorcycle, your workspace, or your next project.
  4. Create a clear overview. Items you use frequently should have dedicated, easy-to-reach places. When everything is organised and visible, it's easier to get started with what you actually came out to the garage to do.
  5. Get help with the planning. A planning tool and guidance from a storage expert can make it easier to see the possibilities in your space and create a solution tailored to your needs.
